A reward of Rs 30,000 was declared on his arrest," said S N Shrivastava, special commissioner of police, special cell.
Shrivastava said that a team led by DCP Sanjeev Yadav and inspector Govind Sharma received information about the whereabouts of Yogesh after which a team was formed to arrest him. On January 12, the team laid a trap and nabbed the accused in the evening hours under section 41.1 of CrPC.
Ashok Kumar, a teacher, had married Seema Singh, who belonged to another community, against their family's wishes. The couple went into hiding after the wedding but it seemed like their families had forgiven them after they had one baby.
However, Ashok's father-in-law, Satpal Singh wasn't happy about the marriage and had been nurturing a grudge. Police said that he allegedly hired his nephew Neeraj Kanwar for Rs 2 lakh to kill Ashok and paid him Rs 50,000 as advance.
On December 25, they attempted to kill Ashok and went to his house. They asked Ashok to accompany them but he insisted they talked at the house. When they didn't budge, he threatened to call up the police, after which the men ran away. On January 16, Kumar was shot dead while he was returning home after dropping his wife at work.
Apart from Singh, Kanwar (41), Dinesh Kumar (42), Amit Gupta (33), Punit (20) and Ankit Sharma (22) were arrested earlier.
An i-10 car and a motorcycle, which were used in the crime, were seized apart from a country-made pistol, two knives and an air pistol.
